The Maldives took an active part in the 63rd session of the UN Human Rights Council, which ended in Geneva after adopting 34 resolutions, two decisions and a President's statement.

The delegation was led by Ambassador Dr Salma Rasheed with a four-member team. The Maldives co-sponsored resolutions on youth and human rights, children's access to nutritious food, safe drinking water and sanitation, good governance and universal accessibility to human rights. Salma also spoke for the informal group of small island developing states on the Council's new synthesis report on climate finance.

The delegation repeated the Maldives' support for the Palestinian people, including self-determination, civilian protection, humanitarian access and a lasting peace under international law.

The Maldives co-hosted a side event with Costa Rica, Morocco, Slovenia and UN Special Rapporteur Astrid Puentes Riaño marking five years since the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment was recognised. As a member of the Core Group on Sea-Level Rise, it also helped organise a session on protecting people from rising seas.
