The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy has held a coordination meeting on a National Early Warning Roadmap, bringing together representatives of the institutions involved.

Participants discussed priorities for strengthening early warning systems and agreed measures to develop the roadmap. The Maldives is highly vulnerable to climate change and natural disasters, and the aim is to protect lives and property.

The roadmap sets three goals: building resilience to weather-related disasters, using scientific data to identify hazards in advance, and making sure warnings reach every community, including remote islands, quickly and in an easily understood form.
