Maldives Islamic Bank has opened a sales centre and an ATM in Funadhoo, in Shaviyani Atoll. Customers can deposit and withdraw cash at the centre.
The opening was attended by Finance Minister Hassan Zareer, Funadhoo Council Vice President Adam Hussain, MIB Deputy CEO Ahmed Riza and Chief Financial Officer Ali Wasif.
The bank says the move is part of a wider push to bring banking services to more islands and make them easier to reach for individuals and businesses.
