Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Abu Dhabi-based Eagle Hills, told PSM News the USD 20 billion Ras Malé waterfront and marina development should be built around local people and skills.

He said an investment without public participation cannot give meaningful returns, and that its success depends on benefits reaching residents through jobs, customers and government revenue. Eagle Hills operates in 20 countries, he said, using local architects and contractors and building training into each project.

The government and Eagle Hills have signed a commercial terms agreement and are working on the formal agreement.
