ADK Hospital has named Dr. Adeel Shareef as its new Deputy Managing Director, strengthening executive leadership at the country's largest private tertiary healthcare facility as it embarks on major modernization and clinical expansion initiatives.

The appointment was formally announced on Saturday by hospital management, signalling a generational transition in executive oversight while retaining long-standing institutional medical expertise.

Leadership and modernization agenda

In his new capacity, Dr. Adeel will work in close coordination with Managing Director Ahmed Afaal and the senior administrative board. His portfolio includes overseeing clinical governance, patient experience standards, digital healthcare infrastructure, and sustainable operational growth across hospital departments.

ADK Hospital stated that the leadership transition comes as the institution makes substantial investments in diagnostic technology, specialized medical departments, and enhanced inpatient facilities in Malé:

"I remain committed to ensuring that both the healthcare professionals we work with and the patients we care for are supported, respected, and treated to the highest achievable standard of clinical excellence," Dr. Adeel stated upon assuming the role.

Managing Director Ahmed Afaal expressed full confidence in Dr. Adeel's capabilities, commending his extensive clinical background and administrative insight:

"I have known Adeel since the early stages of his medical career and have every confidence in his professional dedication and vision. I wish him every success as he shapes ADK Hospital's next chapter," Afaal commented.

Institutional growth

Established nearly four decades ago, ADK Hospital has grown from a small clinic into a comprehensive tertiary healthcare institution providing advanced surgical, cardiovascular, neurosurgical, and critical care services in the capital. Management noted that the renewed leadership structure is designed to guide the hospital through ongoing digital transformation, including automated electronic health record systems and expanded outpatient subspecialties.
