Saudi Arabia has intercepted a ballistic missile that Yemen's Houthi group claimed was directed at airports in the kingdom.
Saudi authorities reported that the missile was brought down before it could reach its targets. The Houthis said the strike formed part of ongoing operations against Saudi infrastructure in response to the conflict in Yemen.
The incident follows earlier attacks that caused casualties at Riyadh airport and other sites. Turkey, Pakistan and Egypt have condemned the strikes on Riyadh airport, while the Houthis have warned of further action if the United States increases its involvement against the Yemeni government.
No casualties were reported from the most recent interception. The Houthis have previously asserted the capability to reach Saudi targets with ballistic missiles and drones.
The attacks occur amid continued fighting in Yemen and regional tensions involving multiple actors. Saudi civil aviation authorities have not released detailed damage assessments for the latest attempt.
