Serious allegations of conflict of interest have emerged following the appointment of the brother of Addu Equatorial Hospital CEO Dr. Ahmed Adeel Naseer to a senior technical position.

Azmeel Naseer was selected for the role of Principal ICT Technician after scoring 92.15 marks, the highest among five applicants. Two candidates were disqualified for failing to meet basic eligibility criteria. The position had been advertised on 1 September 2026.

Public concern has focused on the composition of the interview panel. Ali Ibrahim, a former colleague of Azmeel Naseer at Addu High School, served on the panel. Critics have questioned whether the scoring criteria and panel selection ensured fairness.

Dr. Adeel assumed the position of CEO in March 2026. The hospital has published the A-2 ranking sheet in response to the allegations. Recruitment for government hospitals is normally conducted through public advertisements under Civil Service or applicable regulatory frameworks.

Previous social media reports have alleged that administrative decisions at the hospital have favoured personal connections in both recruitment and project allocation. The hospital has not issued a formal response beyond releasing the ranking sheet.

The case has drawn attention because government institutions are expected to follow transparent, competitive procedures to avoid any appearance of favouritism.
