The Kuwait Fund has stepped in with a $10 million loan for a 50-bed hospital in Thaa Atoll.
The project is aimed at decentralising healthcare and reducing the need for patients to travel to Malé for treatment. Completion is targeted for 2029.
The announcement was welcomed as a step toward improving health infrastructure outside the capital.
