The National Boating Association of Maldives (NBAM) has called for a thorough and impartial investigation into an incident involving diving teams associated with Maldives Legend Liveaboard and Infinity X after video footage circulated widely on social media.

In a statement, the association urged police, the Ministry of Tourism and other relevant authorities to establish the facts through verified evidence and take appropriate action where misconduct or negligence is proven. It stressed that stakeholders should avoid premature conclusions and public accusations.

The association also raised broader concerns about foreign-operated tourism vessels conducting business through locally registered companies without meaningful Maldivian participation. It noted that Infinity X had shifted from operating as a foreign vessel to a locally registered structure and called for scrutiny of its ownership, management and operational control.

NBAM emphasised the need for clear standards in the liveaboard sector to protect both safety and local interests. No official response from the involved operators or authorities had been reported at the time of writing.
