Civil Court Judge Abdulla Ihusaan has resigned from his position after the Judicial Service Commission’s investigation committee concluded that misconduct allegations against him had been substantiated.

The JSC confirmed that Ihusaan submitted his resignation, which took effect on Wednesday. He had been under investigation following complaints from Civil Court employees alleging sexual harassment.

The investigation committee concluded on 12 October that disciplinary misconduct had been established and decided to recommend his dismissal. It remains unclear whether the full commission had formally approved dismissal before the resignation.

Ihusaan had previously been suspended for 60 days from 19 August to maintain public trust in the judiciary while the inquiry proceeded.

In a separate matter, Civil Court employees have filed a complaint with the JSC against another judge over treatment of staff.

The resignation concludes a high-profile disciplinary process involving allegations that raised concerns about workplace conduct within the judiciary.
