The National Boating Association of the Maldives (NBAM) has urged authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into an incident involving diving teams from the Maldives Legend liveaboard and Infinity X.

Footage of the underwater confrontation spread rapidly on social media and international platforms. NBAM said the video raises questions about safety protocols, communication between vessels, and the conduct of operators in popular dive sites.

The association stressed that any inquiry should be evidence-based and protect the reputation of the Maldives as a premier diving destination. Liveaboard operations form a significant part of the tourism product, and incidents can affect bookings and industry standards if left unaddressed.

Police and tourism authorities have not yet issued a detailed public statement on the matter. Operators of the two vessels have also remained largely silent while the video continues to circulate. Industry groups have called for clear guidelines on vessel separation and diver conduct in high-traffic areas.

The Maldives hosts thousands of dive tourists each year. Maintaining high safety and environmental standards is viewed as essential for long-term growth of the sector. NBAM said it stands ready to assist investigators with technical information about boating and diving practices.

Further developments are expected once official inquiries begin. The association encouraged all operators to review their procedures in the meantime.
