More than 205,000 people have visited the Maldives Expo, according to Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed.

The minister said the figure includes both the Maldives Expo and related Maldivian product displays. On average, about 41,000 people have attended each day.

The event was revived this year after a 10-year gap. Organisers say it has returned with a broader range of activities and products.

A total of 419 parties have displayed 4,400 products this year, an 83.5 per cent increase compared with the previous edition. Last year, 240 parties showed about 2,467 products.

Most participants are individuals: 321 private persons, 75 businesses, 16 non-profit organisations, and others from education, associations and government companies. About three-quarters of the products on display come from individual makers.

The main aim of the expo is to expand the creative economy. It aligns with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s target that the creative sector should account for 15 per cent of the economy by 2030.

Minister Saeed noted that the exhibition is growing year by year in organisation and reach.
