MACL seeks daily supply of 500 flatbread for airport operations

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the state-owned operator of Velana International Airport, has announced an open procurement process seeking an external supplier to deliver 500 pieces of fresh flatbread, locally known as roshi, on a daily basis.

According to a tender notice published in the Government Gazette on Thursday, the airport authority is soliciting expressions of interest from eligible enterprises to supply the bakery items under an ongoing, long-term commercial arrangement. The daily deliveries are intended to support food service operations and staff catering across airport facilities on Hulhulé.

Prospective suppliers must submit their expressions of interest by 2:30 p.m. on 15 October via email to the company’s procurement department at bidinfo@macl.aero. Submissions must include the enterprise's registered profile, address, primary contact details, statutory corporate documentation, and verifiable evidence of past commercial experience in high-volume food catering.

Under the eligibility conditions stipulated in the gazette notice, applicants must be registered corporate entities or sole traders licensed under the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade. The operator noted that short-listed candidates meeting the compliance requirements will be invited to participate in a formal request for quotation stage to determine final pricing and delivery logistics.

The tender comes as MACL continues expanding internal operational capacity and upgrading employee welfare programmes at the country’s main international gateway. With terminal expansion works advancing and commercial passenger traffic climbing ahead of the peak winter tourism season, the airport's administrative and service footprint has expanded significantly over the past year.

Parties interested in participating can inspect the official tender terms through the Government Gazette portal at gazette.gov.mv or directly contact MACL's procurement division.
