Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Tehran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz remains on the table.

Speaking after meetings related to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Araghchi stated that Iran's position is clear and that the offer for a temporary reopening within a set period is still active. He indicated that Iran is studying the responses received from the United States but that the original proposal has not been withdrawn.

The proposal was linked to earlier agreements on pausing hostilities. Iran has set out conditions that include the lifting of certain restrictions on its ports and oil exports, as well as a halt to military actions in the region.

Araghchi noted that if the United States shows genuine commitment, the path to reopening the strait is clear. Differences remain over the sequencing of talks, particularly regarding Iran's nuclear programme, which Washington has prioritised.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical route for global oil shipments. Any prolonged closure or uncertainty continues to affect shipping and energy markets.
