More than 5,600 runners have registered for the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race scheduled for 20 November at Hulhumalé Central Park.
The event will offer half-marathon, 10K and 5K open categories, along with newly introduced team competitions. Organisers said the race has been recognised as a World Athletics Ranking Competition and will be run on a certified course measured in cooperation with the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
Dhiraagu has partnered with The Wellness Club, Island Runners Maldives and Marathon Runners Maldives to provide coaching support for participants. The coaching is aimed at helping both competitive athletes and recreational runners prepare for their chosen distance.
The road race has become an established fixture on the national sporting calendar, drawing both local and international participants. Registration numbers this year mark one of the largest fields in the event’s history.
Participants are expected to arrive from across the Maldives and overseas. Race organisers have encouraged runners to follow training guidance in the final two weeks before the event.
