Arsenal will be without midfielder Martin Zubimendi and defender Piero Hincapie for their Champions League match against Lille.

Manager Mikel Arteta said the pair picked up injuries in the most recent Premier League fixtures and are unavailable. He described the absences as unfortunate but said the squad remains prepared.

“It is bad luck that these two important players cannot play. No Champions League match is easy,” Arteta said.

The match is part of the league phase of the competition. Arsenal, who finished as runners-up in the previous season, face a strong French side.

Arteta noted that the team has drawn motivation from the challenges of the campaign and will approach the game ready for a difficult contest. The club has not given a timeline for the players’ return.
