A group of 84 young people has begun the third batch of technical training under the National Service programme at the MNDF School of Engineering and Logistics in Kihadhoo.
The participants, drawn from 17 atolls and 44 islands, include 64 men and 20 women. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu welcomed the start of the programme and wished the trainees success.
The initiative aims to equip young Maldivians with practical skills in engineering and logistics. Officials have described such programmes as important for building a skilled workforce and supporting national development goals.
The training takes place at a facility established in Baa Atoll. Similar batches have previously completed the course, with participants returning to their islands or taking up related work.
The government has highlighted vocational and technical education as a priority for expanding opportunities for youth across the country.
