Police have arrested two foreign teachers on suspicion of sexually abusing three schoolgirls in separate incidents on the same island in the South Central region.

Both suspects are 52-year-old men of foreign nationality employed as teachers. Authorities have withheld the name of the island, the school and further identifying details to protect the child victims.

The first case was reported on 11 October and involves allegations against one teacher concerning a 16-year-old girl. He was arrested on 14 October and remanded for 15 days.

The second case, reported on 17 October, concerns another teacher and two girls aged 12 and 13. He was arrested on 23 October and remanded for 30 days.

Police confirmed the arrests on Sunday and said both investigations are ongoing. Cases involving teachers and minors are treated with particular seriousness under child protection laws.

Such incidents involving expatriate teachers have been reported periodically, prompting calls for stronger vetting and supervision in schools.
