Maldives Airports Company Limited has announced that check-in for 10 international airlines will move to Terminal 2 at Velana International Airport starting 25 October 2026.

The change is intended to manage the expected increase in tourist arrivals during the peak winter holiday season by spreading passenger traffic across both terminals.

Passengers flying with Neos, Aeroflot, US-Bangla Airlines, Centrum Air, Azur Air, S7 Airlines, Shirak Avia, Kuwait Airways, GullivAir and French Bee must complete check-in at Terminal 2. The arrangement will remain in place throughout the winter period.

MACL said expanding international check-in across both terminals will reduce congestion in primary departure areas, increase counter availability and shorten processing times during busy hours.

Terminal 2, previously the main international facility, underwent extensive modernisation and reopened in February 2026. It currently handles domestic connections and features 27 check-in counters, updated baggage handling, expanded dining options, prayer spaces and a children’s play area.

Airport authorities advise passengers on the designated carriers to report directly to Terminal 2 from 25 October and allow extra time for security screening and departure procedures.

The operational adjustment supports efficient handling of higher volumes while the main terminal continues to serve other international flights. Travellers are encouraged to check airline-specific instructions closer to departure.
