The Supreme Court registrar has rejected a case filed by Ali Hussain that sought to invalidate the Rasmalé land deal with a UAE company.

The registrar ruled that the matter does not fall under the Supreme Court’s jurisdiction as a court of first instance. The petitioner, who argued that the 99-year lease violates the Constitution, has 14 days to appeal the decision to the full bench of Supreme Court justices.

The case is the latest legal challenge connected to the large-scale waterfront and marina project being developed under an agreement with Eagle Hills. Government officials have maintained that the arrangement complies with existing law and that land remains under state ownership.

Political debate over the project continues, with opposition figures calling for greater transparency on commercial terms and long-term implications.
