Maldives Police Service has summoned four more drivers in the past 24 hours as part of an ongoing effort to curb reckless driving.

The four men, aged 18, 20, 20 and 22, were called in and given formal warnings. Their records include zigzagging at high speed, driving without a valid licence, exceeding 100 km/h, using another vehicle’s number plate, ignoring traffic lights and operating unregistered or uninsured motorcycles.

Police said the operation targets individuals with repeated offences that endanger other road users and create public fear. Those who continue the same behaviour after being warned face stronger legal action under the new traffic legislation, which gives officers expanded powers on fines and licence suspension.

The service stated that profiling of high-risk drivers will continue and that all necessary legal steps will be taken against repeat offenders.
