A member of the People’s Majlis has called for the complete public disclosure of the commercial terms agreement signed between the Maldivian government and UAE-based Eagle Hills for the Rasmalé waterfront and marina project.

Mikael Ahmed Naseem, the MDP member for Galolhu South, tabled a resolution arguing that key details of the September 21 agreement remain unpublished. The project involves the development of a large area of reclaimed land.

The resolution cites constitutional provisions on the transfer of state land and notes that more than 500 hectares have reportedly been allocated to the company for 99 years without an acquisition cost or rent. It also questions the rights granted for subsequent sales to third parties.

Naseem described the lack of transparency as a significant risk to public assets and potential for corruption. He requested that the government present the full agreement to parliament so members can examine it.

The government has previously defended the deal, with the Attorney General stating it does not breach the Constitution. Opposition parties have continued to raise concerns over the scale and terms of the project.
