Pakistan has announced it will provide an additional 20 scholarships each year for Maldivian students.
The commitment was noted in coverage of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s official visit to Pakistan. It forms part of ongoing educational and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Maldivian students have long pursued higher education in Pakistan, particularly in medicine, engineering and other professional fields. The additional scholarships are expected to expand access for a larger number of candidates.
The announcement sits alongside other bilateral agreements and discussions covering trade, aviation and tourism that have featured during the visit. Both sides have emphasised the historical and cultural links that underpin the relationship.
Further details on eligibility criteria and application processes are expected to be issued by the relevant education authorities.
