The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued an orange alert for Baa and Dhaalu Atolls, forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms and the possibility of flooding.

The alert is in effect from 9:45 pm until midnight today. Authorities have advised residents and travellers in the affected areas to exercise caution.

The forecast includes strong winds and heavy showers that could lead to localised flooding. The service has urged the public to remain updated on further advisories.

This follows a series of weather warnings related to the current monsoon conditions affecting various parts of the country. Rough seas and reduced visibility have also been reported in some areas.

Local councils and emergency services are on standby to respond if flooding occurs.
