A new police station has been officially opened in Kumundhoo island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

The facility was inaugurated today in a ceremony attended by the Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed and the President of the Kumundhoo Council Ali Qasim. Senior police officers, council members and local officials were also present.

The Commissioner of Police raised the police flag, while the council president raised the national flag. A tree-planting activity was also held at the station premises.

The building was constructed through the MTCC and is part of broader efforts to establish dedicated police stations in inhabited islands across the Maldives. The foundation stone for the station was laid on 27 August 2025.

The opening is expected to improve response times and community policing services for residents of Kumundhoo and surrounding areas.
