The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has stated that around 90 percent of households in Fiyoaree have been affected by recent flooding.
The report comes amid heavy rainfall that has impacted several southern islands. Authorities have been assessing damage and coordinating relief efforts in affected areas.
Flooding has previously caused disruptions to homes and essential services in southern atolls during periods of intense monsoon rain. NDMA typically works with island councils, the Maldives National Defence Force and other agencies to provide support, including temporary shelter where needed.
Residents have been advised to take precautions and report damage for assessment. Further details on the extent of damage and any assistance packages are expected once evaluations are complete.
