Former President Mohamed Nasheed has criticised the government for insufficient transparency regarding the Rasmale land deal with a UAE-based firm covering approximately 500 hectares.

He accused President Muizzu of hypocrisy, noting that the current approach bypasses public and parliamentary oversight despite earlier nationalist positions.

Nasheed demanded full disclosure of the project terms, investment figures, and any long-term rights granted. The deal has been a recurring subject of political debate, with the government defending its legality and economic benefits.

Multiple opposition figures have called for the agreement to be tabled or subjected to greater scrutiny.
