Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has handed over water and sewerage systems in Addu City and Fuvahmulah.
The transfer marks the completion of infrastructure works aimed at improving basic services in the two southern cities.
Such projects form part of the national effort to expand reliable water and sewerage networks across the atolls, reducing reliance on imported water and improving public health.
Local councils are expected to take over operation and maintenance of the systems. Residents have long called for better utilities as the cities grow.
MWSC continues to implement similar schemes in other islands under government development programmes.
