President Mohamed Muizzu has declared that he will not take any action that undermines the fundamental pillars of the nation.
Speaking at the official Victory Day function, Muizzu said he would not engage in any activity that compromises the Maldives' Islamic identity, full independence, or the sovereignty of the Maldivian people. He gave an explicit assurance that no decision under his leadership would cause even slight harm to these principles.
The President emphasised that every step and decision would aim to ensure vitality, prosperity, protection, and security for national elements. He said the country must pursue revolutionary changes that strengthen the economy while keeping red lines on nationalism, independence, and sovereignty intact.
The remarks come amid public debate over the Rasmale' development agreement and related concerns about foreign investment and national identity. Muizzu has repeatedly stated that development projects will be pursued without compromising constitutional foundations.
