Maldives and Pakistan are expected to sign multiple agreements during President Mohamed Muizzu's anticipated visit to Islamabad.

Reports from Pakistani and Maldivian sources indicate that approximately 12 agreements and memorandums of understanding are ready for signature. Areas covered include defence, trade, tourism, health, education, climate change and civil aviation.

The visit, expected this week, would be the first by a Maldivian president to Pakistan in more than a decade. Both sides have described it as an opportunity to expand cooperation and mark 60 years of diplomatic relations established in 1966.

Discussions are also expected to address direct air links and regional issues. A business forum is planned to encourage greater interaction between private sectors.

Maldivian officials have said the final schedule is still being confirmed and that a formal announcement from the President's Office is expected soon.
