Housing Development Corporation continues to process remaining balcony railing requests in Hulhumale after completing work on 273 units in 220 apartments.

The programme began after two children fell from buildings in Phase 2, prompting more than 1,000 applications. HDC has confirmed that work on the outstanding requests is ongoing.

In a separate notice, the corporation has given residents of certain FDC flats until 28 October to reverse unauthorised alterations to utility balconies. Non-compliance may lead to further measures.

The railing installations address safety concerns that have persisted in multi-storey housing on the reclaimed island. Many residents submitted requests once HDC opened a formal channel.

Progress reports indicate steady completion of the initial batch, with further updates expected as additional units are finished. HDC has not published a final target date for clearing the full list of applications.

The work forms part of broader efforts to improve living conditions in Hulhumale's residential towers.
