The Housing Minister has rejected suggestions that the Rasmalé development could lead to Israeli citizens settling in the Maldives.
Speaking to media, the minister described such concerns as baseless. The project, involving a partnership with UAE firm Eagle Hills, is focused on waterfront and marina development on reclaimed land.
The statement follows earlier opposition questions about the scale of the land allocation and the terms of the agreement. Government officials have maintained that the deal complies with constitutional requirements and does not transfer permanent freehold rights.
The minister’s comments come as parliamentarians continue to seek greater transparency on the commercial arrangements. The project is one of the largest development initiatives currently under way in the country.
