The Housing Development Corporation has appointed a Disability Ambassador as part of efforts to improve accessibility and inclusion across its developments.
The appointment was announced today. The role is expected to advise on the design and implementation of projects so that they better meet the needs of people with disabilities.
HDC oversees major urban development in Hulhumalé and other areas. Advocates have long called for stronger consideration of disability access in public housing, infrastructure and public spaces.
Further details on the appointee and the specific mandate of the role have not yet been released.
