Former vice president criticises prioritisation of Rasmale over other islands

Faisal Naseem argues funds should develop Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu where housing was already promised.

Former Vice President Faisal Naseem has criticised the government for prioritising reclamation and development at Rasmale without advancing projects on Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu.

He argued that redirecting resources to those islands would better utilise the Thilamale’ Bridge by allowing residents to settle in areas where housing commitments already exist.

The Rasmale project involves significant reclamation and a major commercial agreement with a UAE developer. Critics have repeatedly called for greater transparency and balanced regional development.

No direct government response to the specific criticism was reported.
