Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has terminated agreements for two units in Hulhumalé and ordered evacuation due to unpaid rent.
The flats are among 4,000 developed under the previous administration’s housing policy. FDC said the owners failed to pay according to contracts. Procedures included repeated opportunities over 135 days, two payment default notices, and a mandatory 30-day notice before termination.
Owners must vacate within 15 days of receiving the notice. Access to the FDC portal has been revoked for the accounts.
Previously, monthly rent including maintenance was MVR 6,000 for two-bedroom and MVR 8,000 for three-bedroom apartments. The current administration raised rates to MVR 7,000 and MVR 10,000 respectively.
FDC emphasized the measures uphold contractual obligations and ensure fair application to all residents. Earlier reports indicated hundreds of units had irregular payments.
