Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has said the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) is responsible for the rising dollar rates.
He made the remarks amid public concern over the increasing cost of foreign exchange and its impact on the prices of goods and services. Saeed has also defended the broader economic situation.
A no-confidence motion against him was rejected by the Majlis.
