The Criminal Court has extended the detention of MDP activist Ali Juman by a further 15 days while police investigate terrorism-related allegations.

Juman, 25, from Kullhavagge in Haa Alifu Baarah, was arrested on 22 October under a court warrant. Police are examining social media posts in which he allegedly urged the public to set fire to buildings and vehicles and to loot Redwave outlets.

The court reviewed an intelligence report, records of posts from his X account and related documentation before granting the extension on public-safety grounds under the Constitution and the Criminal Procedure Act. His initial 12-day remand had expired.

In one post cited by investigators, Juman is said to have claimed the government was handing land to Jews in connection with the Rasmalé project and called for destructive action and protests.

Juman has previously been detained during opposition demonstrations. In a separate case, former deputy minister Zihan Hassan remains under investigation over posts calling for arson at state buildings.
