An agreement has been reached for the construction of six jetties as part of an island development project.
The scope covers three jetties measuring 25 metres in length and six metres in width, together with three further jetties measuring 15 metres in length and six metres in width.
The project forms part of ongoing efforts to improve maritime access and harbour infrastructure on the island concerned. Jetties of this scale are typically used for passenger and cargo handling as well as small-vessel berthing.
State media reported the award without providing further details on the contractor, total value or exact location. Similar jetty and harbour upgrade projects have been rolled out across multiple atolls in recent years as part of broader connectivity and economic development programmes.
Completion of the jetties is expected to ease local transport and support fishing and small-scale trade activities.
