A Chinese company has been awarded the contract for the largest military infrastructure project in the history of the Maldives National Defence Force.
The project, titled Kalhuthukkala Koshi 15-storey Integrated Accommodation and Logistics Building, aims to enhance military capabilities by providing modern accommodation and logistical support for operations.
Officials said the development will support the operational needs of the armed forces and represents a significant investment in defence infrastructure. The award comes as the government continues efforts to strengthen the MNDF’s facilities and readiness.
Details of the contract value and timeline have not been publicly disclosed. The project is expected to address long-standing requirements for improved housing and support infrastructure for military personnel.
The announcement has drawn attention amid ongoing discussions about defence partnerships and infrastructure development in the Maldives.
