The Islamic Ministry has been allocated the lowest funding among major ministries in the proposed 2027 state budget.

Figures submitted by the Finance Ministry to the People's Majlis show the Islamic Ministry receiving MVR 578 million. By comparison, the education sector is allocated MVR 6,279 million and housing MVR 5,067 million. The allocation for the Islamic Ministry is higher than the MVR 439 million in 2025 and MVR 421 million this year, but remains the lowest on the list of ministry budgets.

The overall proposed state budget stands at MVR 59.7 billion. Government planning prioritises debt servicing and economic expenditure. The data was released as part of the budget documentation presented to Parliament.

The figures have drawn attention amid ongoing debates over resource allocation across religious, social, and economic sectors.
