The Maldives Meteorological Service has warned that the current spell of bad weather is expected to continue until at least next Tuesday.

Scattered showers, including heavy showers and thunderstorms, are forecast across the country. Winds are expected to be southwesterly to westerly at 10 to 20 miles per hour, with gusts up to 35 miles per hour during showers.

Sea conditions are likely to remain moderate to rough, with wave heights between three and six feet. A white alert has been issued for the area between Noonu Atoll and Faafu Atoll, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms and wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour until 5:00 pm.

The weather has been influenced by the strengthening of the southwest monsoon. Authorities have advised caution for sea travel and outdoor activities.

Residents are encouraged to monitor official updates as conditions may change.
