The government has signed agreements to deliver housing grants aimed at helping applicants meet the equity requirements of bank loans.
The measures are part of broader efforts to accelerate housing delivery in the Greater Malé area. Details of the number of beneficiaries and the total value of the grants have not yet been fully disclosed.
Housing Minister Abdulla Muththalib has previously highlighted the large number of ongoing ministry projects and the substantial funding still required to complete them.
The grants are expected to complement recent banking adjustments that reduced equity thresholds for smaller loans.
