Addu City Council has awarded the contract to develop the Addu Digital Hub to the Maldivian company Oxyka.

The project is intended to modernise and digitise the council’s services. Under the plan, more than 65 services will be made available online, reducing the volume of physical visits required for routine administrative tasks and speeding up processing times.

Council officials said the digital hub will streamline workflows for both residents and staff, cutting down on paperwork and improving accessibility for people living across the Addu islands. The work forms part of wider efforts by local authorities to adopt digital platforms for public services.

Oxyka is expected to build the necessary systems and interfaces to support the online services. Implementation timelines and the full list of services to be included will be confirmed as the project advances.

Similar digitalisation initiatives have been discussed or piloted in other atolls as councils seek to improve efficiency and reduce administrative burdens on residents.
