The Anti-Corruption Commission has concluded that there is no evidence of criminal corruption in allegations that President Mohamed Muizzu pays MVR 50,000 each month to members of parliament from the ruling party.

The commission examined anonymous claims and found no basis to open a full investigation. It therefore closed the matter without further action.

The allegations had circulated on social media and in political commentary. The ACC’s decision means the claims will not proceed to a formal corruption inquiry at this stage.

Ruling-party officials had earlier dismissed the reports as politically motivated.
