The Maldives Meteorological Service has warned that the current spell of bad weather will continue until at least next Tuesday.
Scattered showers, including heavy rain and thunderstorms, are forecast across the country. Winds are expected to be southwesterly to westerly at 10 to 20 miles per hour, with gusts up to 35 miles per hour during showers.
Sea conditions will remain moderate to rough, with wave heights of three to six feet. A white alert has been issued for areas between Noonu and Faafu atolls for heavy rain and wind gusts.
The weather is linked to the strengthening of the southwest monsoon. Similar conditions have already caused flooding in Malé, Haa Dhaalu Atoll and other islands.
Authorities have advised the public to exercise caution, especially during sea travel, and to follow updates from the Met Office and National Disaster Management Authority.
The adverse weather is expected to ease after Tuesday.
