Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that check-in for 10 international airlines will move to Terminal 2 at Velana International Airport from Sunday, 25 October 2026.
The change covers Neos, Aeroflot, US-Bangla Airlines, Centrum Air, Azur Air, S7 Airlines, Shirak Avia, Kuwait Airways, GullivAir and French Bee. It is intended to manage the expected rise in tourist arrivals during the peak winter season by spreading passenger traffic across both terminals.
Passengers on these carriers must complete check-in at Terminal 2 throughout the winter period. MACL said the move will reduce congestion in primary departure areas, increase available counters and improve processing times during busy periods.
Terminal 2, previously the main international facility, was modernised and reopened in February 2026. It currently handles domestic flights and features 27 check-in counters, upgraded baggage systems, dining options, prayer spaces and a children’s play area.
Airport authorities have advised passengers travelling with the listed airlines from 25 October onwards to proceed directly to Terminal 2 and allow sufficient time for security screening and departure formalities.
The operational adjustment reflects efforts to increase capacity at Velana as tourism demand strengthens.
