Lease income from resorts collected by the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority reached MVR 1.6 billion in the first nine months of 2026, an increase of 10.8 percent compared with the same period last year.

MIRA figures show the corresponding total in 2025 was MVR 1.4 billion. The growth comes as the tourism sector continues to expand.

According to the latest daily updates from the Ministry of Tourism, 184 resorts are registered in the Maldives, of which 180 are operational. These properties offer a combined 45,171 beds.

The increase in lease revenue reflects both higher occupancy and the overall strength of the tourism industry, which remains the country’s primary economic driver.
