The Maldives Accountants Forum 2026 began today with more than 400 participants from accounting, finance and business sectors.
Organised annually by the Chartered Accountants of Maldives, the event is being held at the Manhattan Grand Hotel in Hulhumale under the theme of building economic resilience amid change.
CA Maldives President Mohamed Haleem Abdulla said the forum has evolved beyond a gathering of accountants into a national platform that includes policymakers, regulators, investors and educators.
Sessions will cover international financial reporting standards, auditing, tax, cyber risk, fintech, privatisation of state-owned enterprises and lessons from regional economic challenges such as the Sri Lanka crisis.
The two-day programme includes presentations, panel discussions and a case study on the Maldives Waterfront and Marina project. Haleem noted that economic issues are central to the profession because accountants help maintain financial stability.
The forum aims to strengthen financial management practices and support the country’s development goals through better reporting and risk management.
