Maldivian, the national airline operated by Island Aviation, has introduced the first Beechcraft King Air 360 aircraft in the Maldives for luxury tourism and private charter services.

The eight-seat twin-engine turboprop arrived through a partnership with Nilaa Coral Island Resort in Gaafu Dhaalu Kodegalaa, which opened in October with 20 rooms. The aircraft will initially provide dedicated transfers for guests of the resort and is also available for private charters across the country.

Unlike seaplanes commonly used for resort transfers, the King Air 360 features a pressurised cabin, can operate at higher altitudes, and is capable of night flights. This expands options for premium travel and reduces reliance on daylight seaplane operations.

Maldivian Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas said the addition marks a new step in the airline's premium travel offering and responds to demand for more personalised and flexible services. The airline currently operates a fleet of 25 aircraft, including Airbus, ATR, Dash 8 and Twin Otter types.

The introduction supports the broader luxury tourism segment as the Maldives continues to develop high-end offerings.
