Maldivian, the national airline, has strengthened its luxury tourism offerings with the addition of a new King Air 360 aircraft.
The turboprop is expected to improve connectivity to resorts and remote islands, supporting the high-end tourism segment that forms a core part of the economy. Officials said the aircraft will help meet growing demand for efficient transfers between the capital and resort destinations.
The acquisition aligns with efforts to expand the fleet and maintain service standards amid competition in the tourism sector. Further operational details and routes for the new aircraft are expected to be announced in due course.
Tourism remains the primary driver of foreign exchange earnings in the Maldives, and improvements in domestic aviation capacity are seen as important for sustaining arrival numbers and guest experiences.
